Anger Management

We cannot always control what happens in our life

however we can always control how we respond to the experience

That part is our free will.

We have all known anger as some stage in our lives. However, when it can get out of control, it can be destructive, leading to problems with relationships, affecting work and overall quality of life. 

Like other strong emotions, anger causes physiological and biological changes to the body.  It can cause an rapid increase in blood pressure and heart rate as well as a rise of the hormones adrenaline and noradrenaline.

It is important to be able to express anger in healthy ways so that is it not suppressed or redirected. Learning how to state your needs clearly and how to have them met without hurting others is essential. There is a way to be assertive yet considerate to yourself and others.

If anger is unexpressed, it can create other problems. Repressed anger can lead to passive-aggressive behavior (getting back at people indirectly, without telling them why, rather than confronting them head-on). Anger may also lead to cynicism or hostility. People who are constantly putting others down, criticizing everything, and making cynical comments haven't learnt how to constructively express their anger.

An important step towards overcoming anger is learning to calm the emotion so that you can respond rather than react to situations.

With our range of therapies you can learn to reduce both your emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that anger causes. There are some situations in life that we cannot avoid or change, however we can learn to be in control of our own responses to these situations.
